BVARC Monday night script

BVARC Monday night script.

 

QST QST.  This, is (fill in your name and call sign), Net control operator for this evenings edition of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club public service net for the Houston area. This net meets every Monday evening at 8pm local time to discuss topics related to amateur radio and the club.  This is a directed net and all calls should go through net control. The repeater tone is 123.0 (if 145.45 then no tone).

The agenda for tonight's net will be Check-in’s, announcements, sell/swap or trade, area hamfest, followed by the ARRL audio news.

I will now take check in’s from  mobile stations only.  Please give your call sign slowly and signify if you have any traffic for tonight’s net and the type of traffic.

(Write down the call signs, and then announce the ones you have so far. Continue until no other mobile checkins are heard. Mark those which have traffic.)

The BVARC general meeting is 7:30 pm on the second Thursday of each month at the Sugar Land community center on Matlage Way in Sugar Land Texas. The community center is across the street from the Sugar Land post office south of the sugar mill on Hwy 90. We want to encourage anyone interested in ham radio to attend where we usually have presentations related to ham radio and you can meet our members.

The month general meeting, which will be date and will a selection of short technical discussions and functional applications on antennas .

            (Add anything else such as the next meeting topic or something else you think might encourage someone to attend.)

Each month, on the Second Tuesday, BVARC 'Second Tuesday' Amateur Radio License Examination Session are held for license examination and/or upgrade purposes. The current test fee is $15.00 -- we will take cash or check - check(s) made payable to ARRL-VEC.  A photo ID is now required. If a photo ID is unavailable, please check the VEC information on the BVARC web site. Pre-registration is encouraged; walk-ins will be accommodated.

Check in about 6:30 PM - exams start promptly at 7 PM. Parking is readily available in the rear lot -- Inquire at the 'front desk' for our room assignment. Cash Road intersects Murphy Road (FM 1092) at about the 13,500 block, between Greenbriar- Mula Road and the UPRR - US 90A crossings. Turn East on Cash Road; the community college building is on the *right* or south side of the street.

Now for the ARRL Audio News.

(Start the audio news.  I download the audio news file from ARRL before hand and play it through my computer. You can record it to a tape recorder. Download is available the Friday night before the net on http://www.arrl.org/audionewsI. Simply play back the tape and set my radio to VOX and place the microphone on the tape player speaker or have your computer connected directly to your radio. You can do whatever you need. You could also have someone else handle this part of the net and share the responsibility. You will have to pause at the appropriate time about half way to identify your station.)
